Meet New Canaan's Newest Contributor

I am extremely excited to introduce our newest HamletHub contributor Analiese Paik, who is the highly respected and passionate green food authority for Fairfield County! Author and Founder of award-winning digital news publication Fairfield Green Food Guide, she tirelessly campaigns to provide consumers with the correct resources and factual information required to make the right food choices. Topics include: eating locally, seasonality, sustainability and farm-to door to name but a few. Welcome Analiese - our Green Food Guru. Without any hesitation she is kicking off with the following information on Community Supported Agriculture Programs (CSA) below:

'Community Supported Agriculture Programs (CSAs) continue to gain in popularity as consumers discover how economical and fun they are. Each week’s box contains a variety of vegetables, and oftentimes fruit in summer, that’s just been harvested at the host farm. It’s a joy to eat the freshest, seasonal food while knowing that the money supports a local family farm and keeps farmland under production. Our choices do matter, and committing to take what a farmer grows for a season helps her/him to plan and manage cash flow while providing for the local community.

While summer CSA programs typically run for many months, fall and winter programs are much shorter and therefore ideal for those trying them for the first time. Fall and winter CSAs supply us with hardy greens and root vegetables that provide the seasonal excitement in winter braises, roasted dishes, soups and stews. Have you ever had a Gilfeather turnip? New culinary adventures await!'
