Screenwriting: This series of classes will offer a variety of strategies for writing and revising your screenplay.  For the 12 week session, we will focusing on the Rom Com genre, but with nods to serious relationship movies too.
 
Every week:
screening a substantial portion (2 episodes) of a film (see list below) to illustrate technical points  and/or in-class script analysis of produced films;
discussions of genre and creativity; how to speed the writing process;
beginnings and endings;
in-class writing assignments (you may need to bring your laptop);
for those in revision, you may have assignments to apply techniques to revising and bring examples to class;
for those in drafting or early revision: assignments to show your new work and discuss your writing process.
Weekly, as time allows, we will have table readings of ten page script sections.

About Patrick McCord, PhD

Patrick is a fugitive from Hollywood where he learned that his talents were more analytical than presentational. Putting his talents to work more constructively, he earned a PhD in Narratology (English) at the University of Georgia. He is an award-winning poet, published short story author, and he has sold teleplays and a screenplay. He is workshop leader at Write Yourself Free(SM)  and  teaches creative writing with a method based on neuroscience and cognitive linguistics.
