Oh what a SOUPer day for Chowdafest
With the backdrop of the Long Island Sound, bright sunshine and temps in the high 60's, Chowda-heads came out in droves for yesterday's Chowdafest.
The tasty event with a mission of alleviating hunger by supporting Community Plates, was held at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport and beckoned restaurants from all over the country to compete in a friendly culinary competition.
Chowdafest featured four categories of competition with ten restaurants competing in each: Classic New England Clam Chowder, Traditional Chowder exclusively for Rhode Island (clear broth) and Manhattan Clam Chowders (red, tomato based), Creative Chowders and Soup & Bisque.
Votes are now being counted and we will soon know this year's chowda champions. Stay tuned!
