Ridgefield Academy students put Dr. King's message into action

Martin Luther King’s message inspires Ridgefield Academy (RA) students

Across the nation last month, people celebrated Martin Luther King Day with performances, programs, public service and introspection, and Ridgefield Academy was no exception.

RA students and teachers explored Dr. King’s legacy through a variety of activities. While a school-wide initiative encouraged each teacher to kick-off his/her lessons with the consideration of one of Dr. King’s quotes, the lessons that evolved were as unique as the teachers themselves. In all cases, students were inspired to examine their own lives and beliefs about everything from peace and courage to acceptance and service.

Several teachers chose the quote, "Faith is the first step, even when you can't see the whole staircase." Students discussed how faith can be applied to our daily lives, particularly to how we see ourselves and take risks as learners.
