Pop In to the Westport Arts Center Pop Up Exhibition

Grab your friends and pop in to the Westport Arts Center for a Pop Up exhibition by their Westport Artists Collective on Thursday, August 25 from 6 p.m. –  8 p.m.  The exhibition is free and open to the public, and will be on view through Saturday, August 27.

The festive Pop Up shows typically draw crowds of over 300 people and are a lively celebration of creativity and originality. Guests can enjoy wine and a delicious variety of appetizers, meet the artists, and purchase the showcased works of art.

With all proceeds going directly to the artists, the event is a great opportunity to support the arts on a local level.

The exhibition includes a diverse range of fifteen artists from the Westport Artists Collective, selected by the artists showcased at the Spring 2016 Pop Up exhibition.

Selected artists include Sue Benton, Sandra Blackburn, Michael Brennecke, Lucienne Buckner, Bevi Bulwinkle, Joy Bush, Kat Evans, Scott Glaser, Holly Hawthorn, Amy Kaplan, Judith Lambertson, Dan Long, Connie Manna, Bronislava Slagle, and Alex Zenger.

“The Collective is one of our most important community collaborations – we value the creativity, energy and talent they bring to the Arts Center,” said Amanda Innes, the Westport Arts Center’s Executive Director.

The Westport Artists Collective has quickly grown to include 150 members who come together monthly to discuss, create, and develop dynamic art experiences.  It serves as a base for Westport Arts Center’s artists, bringing exciting Pop Up shows and other unique art events to the Arts Center and Fairfield County.  There is a now waiting list to join the Collective, a testament to the quantity and quality of local artists in our community.

The original founders of the Collective were recently honored by the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County with a 2016 ACE (Arts & Culture Empowerment) award in the Artist Category. Founders include Nina Bentley, Miggs Burroughs, Helen Klisser During, Duvian Montoya, Jahmane West and Tammy Winser.
