Winter Weather Advisory for Southeast NY & Northern Fairfield County

NOAA has made some quick weather changes are forecast through Christmas Day:

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for for Orange, Putnam counties in southeast NY and northern Fairfield County CT, and through tonight, possibly lingering into Saturday morning for interior Southeast CT. Expect light snow and sleet gradually changing to light freezing rain this afternoon. Snow accumulations of less than 1 inch and ice accumulations of less than 1/10 of an inch are forecast. Temperatures rising to around 32 degrees.  Prepare for slick travel.

This morning through Saturday evening across the Coast – Rain at times with temperatures above 32 degrees.  Rainfall amounts between 1/2 and 1 inch.  Prepare for wet travel.

Saturday night through Sunday morning – Temperatures will fall below 32 degrees northwest of NYC.  Prepare for developing slick spots.

Late Christmas Eve through Christmas morning – Snow is likely, possibly starting as rain or a rain/snow mix along the coast. Possible accumulations will range from a dusting to a few inches area wide as temperatures fall into the upper 20s and low 30s Christmas morning.

Christmas afternoon and evening – Temperatures will range from the mid-upper 30s, melting accumulated snow.

Later Christmas night – Prepare for developing slick spots as temperatures fall below 32.
