"Ecotone" Exhibition Opens Sept. 3rd at Darien Nature Center

Darien-based Carlyle Upson's "Ecotone" exhibition of paintings, sculpture and installations, which opens at Darien Nature Center on September 3rd, was first shown at Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan in January 2012. The contemporary imagery explores the zone where the forest meets the clearing for human settlement.

"Ecotone" examines shelter at the edge of the forest through depictions of birdhouses, tipis, abstracted grasses and lots of trees. The artist shows a transition area between two adjacent ecological communities-forests and suburban landscape. Aside from paintings in oil and watercolor, the exhibition is comprised of terrariums and an outdoor sculpture maquette.

The Darien Nature Center is located at 120 Brookside Road, Darien, CT 06820. Call at (203) 655-7459.
