Fairfield Museum presents book talk with John Cilio, Author of Women’s Work in WWII
Thursday, May 7, 6pm wine and cheese reception followed by the lecture 6:45pm – 8pm
“Rosie the Riveter” was a true American icon, answering the call to work during the war years. There were millions of “Rosies” and millions of stories are being brought to life over half a century later. In his latest book, Women’s Work in WWII, aviation historian John Cilio tells the history of millions of women working in thousands of roles with minimal training and no experience, but fully confident that they were equal to filling the roles of the men they replaced.
This program is co-sponsored with the League of Women Voters and is part of Connecticut at Work, a year - long conversation about the past, present and future of work life in Connecticut created by Connecticut Humanities.
