Yale Science Diplomats Speak at New Canaan Library on Hacking the Genetic Code: Editing Our Destiny

Genetic codes and DNA editing are big topics in science and mainstream news right now. Join New Canaan Library in welcoming Yale Science Diplomats, speaking on the topic Hacking the Genetic Code: Editing Our Destiny. The event takes place on Tuesday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery. Please register for this program online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Join Yale Science Diplomats for an exploration of the “CRISPR Craze” - the excitement surrounding a new DNA editing tool poised to revolutionize biology, medicine, and industry. How was CRISPR discovered? Can we use CRISPR to cure diseases, develop new crops, revive extinct species, or even engineer designer babies? If we can, should we? Yale graduate students Bryan, Camila, and Daniel will discuss this powerful new technique and discuss its ethical implications.

Yale Science Diplomats is a graduate student group dedicated to science policy and science communication. The diplomats bring science to the public in exciting and accessible ways through a variety of outreach initiatives.
