Kids' Art Workshops: Modern Art/Contemporary Art at Pequot Library, ages 9 - 16.

Monday, June 26 - Friday, June 30, mornings 9am - 12pm or afternoons 1pm - 4pm.

Kids learn fine art techniques from a celebrated and experienced NYC teaching artist from the Met's "Doing Art Together." Students learn to observe and create using a variety of materials. Featured once again this summer: Arturo Garcia!

Sign up for:

Morning session: 9am-12pm. Study Hudson River landscape, abstract painting creating cells, multi-media collage, still life drawing, watercolor painting

Afternoon session: 1pm-4pm. Study printmaking, figure sculpture, still life painting--Shepard Fairey, Kandinsky, Jacometti

Both: 9am-4pm. Bring bagged lunch

Workshop led by: Arturo Garcia, preeminent Mexican classical realist painter. Garcia spent his formative years in Mexico and Spain, graduating with honors from The National School of Plastic Arts. He continued his training in the U.S. and in NYC became affiliated with The Water Street Atelier. Art collectors have recognized the value and uniqueness of his work which includes still-lifes, landscapes, floral, interiors and figurative works.

Full Day (including lunch hour): Members $320; Non-Members $350
