Clothing Costs Cut

The Annual One-Week Sales and Use Tax Exclusion for Clothing and Footwear Costing Less Than $300 runs from Sunday August 17 through Saturday, August 23. That is the official word from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. Anther way to say it is No Tax on clothes costing less than $300.

Some are and some are not

Whether getting ready to go back to school or back to work this is a good week to make your apparel purchases. The State gives many examples of things exempt from the sales tax, like Square dancing clothes, Garters, and Bicycle sneakers (without cleats).

Some items are taxable even next week, such as Shoes: ballet, bicycle, bowling, cleated, football, golf, track, jazz, tap, turf; Wet suits; and Pot holders. To see a list of examples click to the State site, here.
