Woodcock Nature Center Hosts 3rd Annual Howl Prowl

On Friday, October 21st, from 5 pm to 9 pm, the Woodcock Nature Center will be hosting the ever-popular, 3rd Annual Family Howl Prowl. This event DOES sell out and attendance is limited to 20 families per session, to ensure a fun night for all.

Journey down the long, spooky driveway on a fall hayride, and spend some time doing fun-filled activities learning all about the misunderstood creatures of the night. For the third year in a row, Woodcock plays host to Atka, a wolf from the nearby Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, New York.

Adults and children should bring their flashlights to enjoy a night spotting scavenger hunt along the boardwalk trail and raft trips onto the pond. WNC naturalists and student volunteers will be bringing-out some of the resident animals. Between activities, participants can warm themselves by a roaring fire in the pavilion and enjoy S’mores.

This will be a howling good time for all ages! Families can register to arrive at 5, 5:30, 6 or 6:30 pm, and are encouraged to come in costume. Those coming earlier will be able to leave after the wolf presentation while those arriving later will do most of the other activities after watching the wolf presentation. The wolf presentation will take place from 6:45 – 7:30 pm for both sessions.  The cost of the event is $40 per family or $20 for individuals.

The rain date is Sunday, October 23rd with sessions from 12, 12:30, 1, and 1:30, with the wolf presentation at 2:00 pm.
