Raising Special Children Talk

Parents of children with special needs who seek parenting strategies and treatment options are invited to attend a talk with Anthony Silver, director of the Westport-based Gray Matters, and Geri Zatcoff, Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 in the Memorial Room at the Fairfield Public Library at 1080 Post Rd. in Fairfield.

The discussions will address:

  • Understanding how children with different needs impact the family

  • New tools in diagnosis, including the use of the latest technology in QEEG (brain mapping)

  • How neurofeedback can re-train the brain to reduce or eliminate the need for medication

  • How food affects the brain and behavior

  • Why tackling the causes of childhood difficulties is more effective than simply treating the symptoms.

The evening will also include a demonstration of neurofeedback—a treatment option for ADHD, anxiety, and sleep disorders—and a question and answer session.

In addition to being Gray Matters' director, Silver is family therapist, Board Certified Neurofeedback Clinician, and Conn.’s only provider of NASA designed neurofeedback technology for children with ADHD. Geri Zatcoff has over 20 years of experience creating optimal health and wellness for children of all ages.
