Mohegan Sun’s Wine Fest Promises To Be A Can’t Miss Good Time

This coming weekend Mohegan Sun Casino will throw a huge party with all the wine, beer, and spirits you can imagine. Mix in a bunch of celebrity chefs, food, prize giveaways, and a little education with tastings and food demonstrations and you’ve got a blowout, this is Wine Fest 2012.

Wine Fest, which runs from January 27-29, will feature tastings of different reds, whites, pinots, and vintage wines. Maybe you will be one of those attending one of those seminars to boost your wine and food pairing knowledge. If wine is not your thing, fear not, also featured is a short “class” where you will get to try five high quality bourbons. If you’re a beer lover, be sure to buy a ticket to the Heavy Seas Beer & Cheddar Pairings where you can sample six quality brews.

The biggest tasting event of the weekend will be the Sun Wine Fest Grand Tasting. Present will be over 1,000 brands of wine, beer, and liquor as well as food from nearby restaurants for which there will be a small charge.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Mohegan Sun is kicking Wine Fest up even more with celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Todd English, Robert Irvine, Govind Armstrong, Donatella Arpaia, Jasper White, and many others as they will be hitting the main stage for demonstrations all weekend long. In addition to the demos, some of these chefs will show off their skills in private cooking stations set up around the casino, then pair up a great dish along with the perfect wine or beer. The Celebrity Chef Dine Around is sure to be a terrific part of Wine Fest.

What’s an event like this without contests? It is very appropriate that one of the featured contests is a grape stomp. 16 teams will compete by stomping grapes; whichever team gets the most juice wins $1,500, a room for the night at the casino, dinner for two at Todd English’s Tuscany, and pedicures at Elemis Spa. Do you want a contest for the hungry? Wine Fest has you covered with Mohegan Sun’s 8^th Annual Oyster Open. Shuck and eat the most oysters and you go home with a cool $5,000.
