Wilton resident launches new t-shirt line

Wilton designer brings sparkle and shine to Warrior Pride

Wilton resident Jennifer Angerame, owner and designer of Southern Yankee, a line of one-of-a-kind handmade vintage and upcycled clothing and gifts, has started a new venture selling glittered Warrior t-shirts to benefit Wilton non-profit organizations. Angerame, a transplant from Texas who has three children playing sports in Wilton, purchased a t-shirt with “Warrior” glittered on the front and edged in rhinestones from one of her favorite stores in East Texas. While wearing it to her son’s Wilton youth football game, a number of women approached her and asked where they could buy one like it. “That’s when I knew I was on to something,” says Angerame.  She decided to sell what she refers to as “glitter and bling” t-shirts at trunk shows and sports events in town to raise money for Wilton non-profit organizations.

Her first trunk show is scheduled for Thursday April 9th at the Painted Cookie, 196 Danbury Road in Wilton, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Angerame will donate 10% of the proceeds from this trunk show to the Wilton Education Foundation. The t-shirts will be available in women’s and girls’ sizes; the women’s style is gray with royal blue raglan sleeves, and the girls’ style is white with royal blue raglan sleeves.  “The writing on the front can be customized and special ordered to say anything - for example,  “Warrior mom”, “baseball”, “lacrosse” – that the customer wants,” Angerame explains.  The prices range from $42-$48 dollars for each shirt. “People who aren’t able to attend the 4/9 trunk show can purchase the t-shirts on the Southern Yankee website (www.southernyankee.com), and mention the Wilton Education Foundation so that 10% of the proceeds go to that organization.  Proceeds from future trunks shows and sales will go to other organizations in town including Wilton Youth Football, Wilton Little League, and PTA organizations.  Adds Angerame, “I think these shirts are a great way to bring some glam, sparkle, and shine to the sidelines and to Warrior pride – and raise money for wonderful Wilton non-profit organizations like the Wilton Education Foundation.”
