United Way Welcomes New Members to Stamford Community Council

The Stamford Community Council of United Way of Western Connecticut voted in mid-May to add three new members to its Council. Delphine Fairley, a Community Relations Manager in the Corporate Affairs Department of Nestlé Waters North America, Heath Durlester, Manager of Community Engagement at Pitney Bowes, and Ryan Tougias, an Attorney with Day Pitney, LLP in Stamford.

United Way’s Stamford Community Council serves as the local board of United Way of Western Connecticut.

The Community Council is responsible for identifying community needs, building long term funding sources and allocating resources to local service programs. 

“We are so pleased that Delphine, Heath and Ryan will be joining our Council,” said Kurosh Marjani, Chair of Stamford’s Community Council.  “Each of these individuals brings their own passion for being involved in the Stamford community and they represent companies that are committed to ensuring their employees are engaged. We look forward to having their experience and insights on our Council as United Way continues to identify ways to support the Stamford community.”

The following are bios for the new members of the Council. Also included are headshots for each new Council member.

Delphine Fairley, Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA)

Delphine Fairley is a Community Relations Manager responsible for the strategic direction and execution of NWNA’s Employee Volunteer Program. She manages the corporate giving program and corporate community partnerships. Delphine was hired at Nestlé Waters in 2007, after spending eight years at MasterCard International in roles from Debit Product Manager and Manager of Rules and Reporting to Director, Debit Business Administration. Since joining NWNA, her roles have included Corporate Affairs Communications Manager, responsible for the company’s corporate news magazine and other employee communication touch-points, and as Employee Engagement Manager. Delphine is active in her church community and serves as Finance Manager for St. Stephen’s Church in Newark NJ, where she also directs all special programs and church communications.

Delphine is a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ with a BA in Fine Arts.  She also holds a MBA from the Hagan School of Business at Iona College, New Rochelle, NY with a concentration in Human Resource Management and International Business Management.

Heath Durlester, Pitney Bowes

Heath Durlester is Manager of Community Engagement at Pitney Bowes. In this role, Heath leads a wide-range of volunteerism efforts to engage Pitney Bowes employees worldwide in community service. He aligns these programs, including skills-based and hands-on volunteer activities, with the company’s strategic philanthropy focus of literacy and education conducted in conjunction with global, national and regional non-profit organizations.

In addition to his current role in the Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy group, Heath has held numerous roles in marketing at Pitney Bowes including marketing communications and event management. Prior to joining Pitney Bowes, Heath held various roles in marketing operations and marketing communications at Decorative Product Source, Office Depot, Daymon Associates and MicroWarehouse.

Heath currently serves on the steering committee of the Danbury Public School’s Early College Opportunity Program and also mentors students participating in the program.

Heath earned a B.A. in communications with a specialization in public relations and journalism from Rowan University. He is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.

Ryan Tougias, Day Pitney LLP

Ryan Tougias represents parties in the financial services and real estate industries in complex litigation in federal and state courts and alternative dispute resolution. He handles federal and state claims, including complex creditors' rights, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and bankruptcy-related claims.Ryan served as a legal research clerk to the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court. While in law school, he was an extern with the United States Department of Justice, U.S. Trustee Program. He also interned with the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ways & Means.
