A child's ability to engage socially and emotionally with others is the foundation of learning and development. The Floortime model uses play therapeutically to engage children of all ages and to develop their intentional communication, social problem solving, symbolic play and abstract thinking.
Lorraine Ehlers-Flint, Ph.D., a clinical and developmental psychologist with extensive pediatric experience in private and community settings, will discuss how to observe, analyze and build on a child's play.
A faculty member of the DIR Institute and the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders (ICDL), Dr. Ehlers-Flint has special expertise in the use of the DIR/Floortime approach. She has taught special education pre-school, consulted with school districts and trained and supervised psychologists in the use of Floortime.
