“The South’s Gonna Do It Again” when southern boy Charlie Daniels is at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, October 24, at 8 p.m. This good ol’ southern boy’s music runs the gamut from rock to country, bluegrass, blues and gospel. His signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979. Charlie Daniels’s top tunes include “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp,” “Uneasy Rider” and “Trudy,” which define the southern rock genre and have left an indelible mark on America’s musical landscape. Charlie Daniels and his bandmates will get everybody stomping. Special guest is Jamie McLean Band, whose genre is southern roots rock, blues, R&B, funk and soul oozing from their amplifiers for that “honest rock and roll” vibe.
Charlie Daniels Band have produced Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum albums and garnered awards from The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and the Grammies. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 76, Charlie Daniels has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-Platinum career and a platform from which he supports the military, underprivileged children and others in need.
