Reggae rapper Matisyahu…Unplugged at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, December 28, in Festival of Light Tour

Matisyahu will return with his eighth annual Festival of Light tour with a stop in Ridgefield this year on Sunday, December 28, at 8 p.m. Joining Matisyahu will be his band Dub Trio and guitar player Aaron Dugan who will play material spanning Matisyahu’s entire career. Matthew Paul Miller, known by his Yiddish and stage name Matisyahu, blends Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip-hop and beatboxing sounds. He first made a name for himself with his album Live at Stubbs, and the album Youth quickly followed. Both subsequently went Gold, and Youth was nominated for the Best Reggae Album Grammy. In 2009, Light reached No. 1 on the Reggae Albums chart and stayed in the top spot for 34 weeks. Matisyahu’s fourth studio album, Spark Seeker, also debuted at No. 1 on the Reggae chart. Matisyahu’s latest LP, Akeda, is described as his “most self-reflective and purely conceived album” by the Huffington Post. This event is part of the Xfinity Rock Series with partial underwriting by Nature’s Temptations and media sponsors The Jewish Ledger and The Peak 107.1fm. Love, Hope & Strength Foundation bone marrow registry drive will be in the lobby the night of this event – saving lives, one concert at a time. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show.

Matisyahu describes his fifth studio album, Aked:  “This record deals with love, with feelings of brokenness and humility, with humanity, struggle, and sacrifice.”

For tickets ($47.50), call the box office at (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.  The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
