ART for the Creative Family brings Curious Cubes to The Aldrich on December 20

Third Saturdays: Family Art Experiences—Curious Cubes on Saturday, December 20 from 10 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3 pm

Build imaginative, textured boxes inspired by exhibiting artist Eva Hesse’s experimental approach to sculpture. Using child-friendly “industrial” and natural materials, twist, rub, curve, and construct a unique, unexpected keepsake. Create a planter with glass tiles, a gift-box with stone, or a bowl with felt and wire, exploring a variety of surprising materials to design a one-of-a-kind holiday gift or something special for yourself.

From 10 am to 12 noon, Third Saturdays caters to children aged two to five with play in the galleries, followed by storytime and art-making. From 1 to 3 pm, children aged six to ten are invited to engage in gallery games and the hands-on art project.

FREE for members and children under 18; FREE with the price of admission

Each session will include snacktime and although the workshops are geared to a specific age range, siblings and friends of all ages are welcome to participate. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
