Exciting Events at WCSU this Week!

MAY 5           ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION AND FILM SCREENING: Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty will participate in a roundtable discussion about military sexual trauma, veterans’ access to comprehensive care and current  policies pertaining to veterans at 4 p.m. in Room 201 of the Student Center on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Esty will be joined by representatives from the Veterans Administration, the Danbury Veterans Center and the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, who will be able to provide services to veterans. MAY 8           GRADUATE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY: The WCSU Division of Graduate Studies will host a commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Feldman Arena of the William O’Neill Athletic and Convocation Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. MAY 9           SOLO AND ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL: The WCSU Solo and Ensemble Festival will enable music students from ages 11-18 to sing and perform for WCSU’s outstanding music faculty in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The event is open to all piano, band, orchestra, jazz and choral students from fifth grade through high school seniors. Students will prepare a solo or small ensemble (up to 13 players) of their choosing to be performed live. Students will receive immediate verbal and written feedback and have the opportunity to earn awards for outstanding performances.  MAY 9          PLANETARIUM SHOW AND TELESCOPE VIEWING: WCSU will host a 7:30 p.m. planetarium show, followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the Westside Observatory and Planetarium on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. MAY 10         UNDERGRADUATE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY: WCSU will host its Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard, 600 Main St. in Bridgeport. MAY 11 – 16 WCSU OFF-BROADWAY PRODUCTION: The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts will perform at 8 p.m. at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th St., third floor, in New York. For more information, call (203) 837-8250.

MAY 12         LYME DISEASE CONFERENCE AND HEALTH FAIR: WCSU will host the Ninth Annual Lyme Disease Conference and Health Fair in the Ballroom of the Westside Campus Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with an integrative medicine workshop conducted by Dr. William Lee Cowden and Dr. Eva Sapi. At 6 p.m., there will be a Lyme-focused health fair offering information about prevention, treatment and supportive therapies. At 7 p.m., Dr. Richard Horowitz will speak, followed by the presentation of the “Courage in Advocacy Award” to Lyme Disease Association President Pat Smith.
