Kids' Art Workshops--4-Day Intensive: Nature in Your Community

Monday, June 29 - Thursday, July 2

This art intensive is for ages 6-8 and 9-12 (two groups)

Learn fine art techniques from celebrated and experienced NYC teaching artists from the Met's "Doing Art Together." Students learn to observe and create using a variety of materials. Program culminates in an exhibition on July 2.

Sign up for morning, afternoon or both sessions:
·    Morning session (9am-12pm): Plein Air Art (2-D Art)
·    Afternoon session (1pm-4pm): 3-D Nature-inspired Art
·    Both (9am-4pm)

Pricing:
·    Each session: $150 (PLA* Member cost: $125)
·    Both sessions : $275 (PLA Member cost: $250)
·    To receive the PLA Member discount, please join the Pequot Library Association (PLA). Family memberships are $75 and fully tax-deductible.

Workshops led by:
Arturo Garcia, preeminent Mexican classical realist painter. Garcia spent his formative years in Mexico and Spain, graduating with honors from The National School of Plastic Arts. He continued his training in the US, and in NYC became affiliated with The Water Street Atelier. Art collectors have recognized the value and uniqueness of his work which includes still-lifes, landscapes, floral, interiors and figurative works.

Rute Ventura, Portuguese multi-media artist whose artwork ranges from drawing, to painting, sculpture, video and installation. She has studied extensively in Italy, learning Trompe L’oeil techniques at the Accademia del Superfuluo in Rome. She moved to New York City in 2009 where she works as a teaching artist with the non-profit "Doing Art Together," providing art workshops for under-served youth in NYC Public Schools. She collaborates with The City College of New York incorporating STEM through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)
