Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA) presents the 2nd in a free six-lecture series featuring topics of interest to senior citizens and their families on Wednesday, May 27. The topic of the evening is driving, aging, and dementia. The presenter is Mary Underwood, Vice President of Memory Care and Resident Experience at Maplewood Senior Living. Underwood will discuss how to assess a loved one’s driving ability, the changes that occur during the normal aging process, considerations for making the decision to stop driving, and some potential solutions to the problem of an unsafe driver. This presentation, and all of the upcoming Spring Education Series, will be held at the RVNA office, located at 90 East Ridge in downtown Ridgefield. About The Speaker
Mary Underwood is the Vice President of Memory Care and Resident Experience at Maplewood Senior Living. She has over 26 years of experience in the field of memory care. Underwood has presented at the Alzheimer’s Association’s state, national and world congress conferences. She has twice received the “Outstanding Caregiver” award from the Alzheimer’s Association. Underwood has a degree in social work and has been a support group leader for over 20 years.
