Wilton Library’s 121st Annual Meeting June 5

Before people start scattering for summer vacations, they are invited to  Wilton Library’s 121st Annual Friends of the Library meeting on Sunday, June 5, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.  The event will feature a brief business meeting in which the election of new officers and trustees will take place, along with a celebration of those who are retiring from the board and a presentation of awards to the staff person and volunteer of the year.  The proposed slate of officers for the 2016-2017 year is as follows: Glenn Hemmerle, president; Michele Klink, vice president, Kim Healy, secretary and Bob Kelso, treasurer.  The retiring board members are Ann Duffy, Jeff Barbour, Diane Wilson and Karen Sackowitz. New trustees will be named at the meeting, along with an honorary trustee.

Following the general meeting, “Chief Idea Guy” Bryan Mattimore will speak on innovation and creativity, and how Wilton Library has a “unique capability to provide ‘creative thinking triggers’ to help invent the next big thing.” Bryan has facilitated over a thousand brainstorming sessions, moderated over five hundred creative focus groups, and managed over two hundred innovation projects, leading to over $3 billion in new sales for a wide variety of Fortune 500 clients including Kraft, Unilever, Ford, Merck, and Pepsi. A cum laude graduate of Dartmouth, and a three-time author of best-selling ideation and innovation books, his newest book is 21 Days to a Big Idea from Diversion Books. He is co-founder of The Growth Engine Co., an innovation agency based in Norwalk.

Elaine Tai-Lauria, executive director for Wilton Library recently noted, “We’ve just finished celebrating our 120th year and a good year it was.  We’re grateful to the Wilton community for supporting the library, taking part in our fundraising gala, our annual Gigantic Book Sale and making Wilton Library a part of their daily lives. We are embracing the next year wholeheartedly with new initiatives and look forward to hearing from our speaker, Bryan Mattimore, to help people ignite some critical thinking and new ideas while at the library.”

The annual meeting is open to the public. An informal reception follows the general meeting and the speaker.  People are asked to RSVP to 203-762-6323 or visit www.wiltonlibrary.org and click on the annual meeting icon on the homepage. Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.
