Wilton Library is pleased to announce a new initiative focused on local businesses from entrepreneurs to corporations that call Wilton their home. The library’s aim is to deliver valuable products and services to businesses at their points of need, including an expanded business book collection, digital literacy training, job and business development workshops and business/economic forums and lectures featuring executives, subject experts, thought leaders and business writers.
Wilton Library’s executive director Elaine Tai-Lauria has long held a desire for the library to actively meet the needs of the business community. She remarked, “Wilton Library always strives to be there for our business customers. Many have relied on us for our research capabilities; still others have written their start-up business plans here. Now, we’re making a concerted effort to let the community know that we are here for them and ‘Wilton Library Means Business.’”
The business initiative embraces many groups – prospective and new businesses such as emerging businesses, entrepreneurs, individual business owners and larger businesses, and corporations. All three of the components of the initiative are aimed at each of the groups: stimulating forums for corporate neighbors and emerging businesses will feature speakers, thought leaders, panel discussions and book talks; practical training offerings customized to local businesses’ needs will be expanded to include basic tech training, social media classes and more either at the library or onsite at the business; and a renewed emphasis on having the most up-to-date business materials and online databases of value for local businesses.
The first author talk headlining the library’s business initiative features Larry Kudlow, from CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report,” on Thursday, January 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Kudlow will shed light on a time when bipartisanship was a driving force behind the US’ thriving economy. JFK and the Reagan Revolution: A Secret History of American Prosperity, Kudlow’s book co-authored with Brian Domitrovic argues that the solutions needed to fix the current woes, in this election cycle and the ongoing aftermath of the Great Recession, stem from the free-market principals of limited government, low tax rates and a strong dollar, once put in place by the bipartisan wisdom of two great presidents. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Elm Street Books. There is no charge for the talk which is co-sponsored with the Wilton Chamber of Commerce.
He added, “The Library is planning a three-part entrepreneur series for March, and Excel and PowerPoint classes are already scheduled that businesses can take advantage of.”
Wilton Library also is working closely with the Wilton Economic Development Commission. Tai-Lauria noted, “The library is in sync with the EDC’s mission to bring more businesses and people to Wilton. With this robust business initiative, we feel we’re bringing the right things to the table to help strengthen Wilton’s story.”
