Now through Wednesday, Aug. 23 73rd Annual Wilton Artists’ Summer Show Exhibition This exhibition celebrates more than 50 Wilton artists displaying diverse styles, media, and subjects in this annual Summer Show.  A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. Now through Aug. 25 1000 Books for Kindergarten: Summer Children who are not yet entering Kindergarten may still participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program for the summer and beyond. During the summer, children will receive a special bonus prize for visiting the library each week. Now through Aug. 25 Wilton Library’s Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program Join Wilton Library this summer for our Water, Wind & World Summer Reading Program.  Children may still register on Wandoo Reader, an online reading log to keep track of their reading anywhere they go as long as they have an internet connection.  By reading, logging, and completing challenges, kids will be eligible for benchmark prizes throughout the summer.  The Water, Wind & World program stimulates kids’ imaginations with wonderful stories and fun activities while learning about ecosystems, animals, and resources in the world they live in. Drop-in story times, drop-in activities, large-group enrichment and entertainment programs and animal visits are just some of the events planned though August 25.  Think of us as your free stay-at-home summer camp experience. Now through August 31 Explore New Worlds Summer Reading Program for Teens and Tweens Wilton Library’s summer reading program for teens and tweens, Explore New Worlds!, continues through August 31.  The program is for kids entering grades 6 through 12.  Registration takes place online with Wandoo Reader in which kids can enter their time spent reading.  All a kid needs is a good book and an internet connection. Age-appropriate reading in any fiction, nonfiction, biography and Manga makes kids eligible for gift certificates; a chance to win a $100 American Express gift certificate awaits at the end of the program. Friday, Aug. 4 Cartoon Drawing Demonstration, 4 – 4:45 p.m. For children of all ages and their families. Come watch charming mermaids, fairies, pirates, and spacemen come to life on a sketchbook. Everyone who attends will leave with a quick sketch made on the spot. Be sure to bring your imagination and have a fun time watching the creations. This program is being offered by high school graduate Emma Keating.  Emma is a graduating senior at Wilton High School. Next year she will be studying film at Purchase College. She creates her own animated movies by drawing thousands of individual pictures. These frames add up to make a full story. Interested in computer programming but don't know where to start? Scratch is a fun, creative, and visual programming language designed as a stepping stone to more advance computer programming languages. No experience required! During this program, students will learn the basics of Scratch programming and create finished Scratch projects. This program is taught by Ashley Li and meets Tuesday and Thursday over the course of 8/8 - 8/24. Ages 11-13. Ashley Li is a rising college sophomore who attends Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She is studying biomedical engineering. Wednesday, Aug. 16 Peace Rocks!, 3 – 5 p.m. The Rotary Club installed the first Peace Pole at Wilton Library last fall with several more installed at our schools and community buildings.
