Wilton Gets 'Carded' in September - Receive Discounts & Specials in Wilton Just by Showing Your Library Card

For the month of September, Wilton residents can become card-carrying customers of Wilton Library and receive benefits both inside and outside the library.  “Get Carded!” is a collaborative promotion between the library and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce that offers everything from discounts on merchandise to free glasses of wine from participating Chamber restaurants, merchants, and businesses.

The program supports Library Card Sign-Up Month, an annual event sponsored by the American Library Association. From September 1 through September 30, customers can present their Wilton Library cards to more than 20 participating Chamber businesses to receive offers ranging from 10% off items to one free week of Karate lessons. People who register for new accounts at the library will receive $3 gift certificates to Peachwave Yogurt.

Robin Axness, development director at Wilton Library, noted, “This collaboration with the Chamber is one in which everyone benefits. People who already know how great the library is can show their card outside the library and receive terrific value from it; and those who maybe haven’t gotten around to getting a Wilton Library card may now have the incentive to do so.”

Karen Zeibak, the library’s circulation manager, concurred, “If a Wilton resident doesn’t have a card, they simply can come to the circulation desk and we’ll fix them right up so they can start enjoying all programs, services and collections of the library.  Then they can “go to town” receiving all that the Chamber businesses have to offer.  We’ll also have free giveaways throughout the month, including W logo bookmarks made from our new 3D printer.”

According to Janeen Leppert, Wilton Chamber director, “Robin Axness and Elaine Tai-Lauria [the library’s executive director] came to me with the suggestion of partnering for Library Card Sign-Up Month.  I thought it was a great idea to link the library and the Wilton business community in a meaningful way.  Everyone benefits with this promotion—the library provides something to its patrons and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce creates opportunities for its members.  It is a collaboration that benefits everyone.”

Categories include personalized stationery, banking incentives, family photo sessions, jewelry, specialty chocolates, exercise and dance opportunities, food, framing, and travel, just to name a few.  A list of the participating Chamber members and their respective offers can be found on the library’s website home page at www.wiltonlibrary.org.  The list can be printed from a computer or people can click on the links to get to the businesses’ websites.
