If you are among the one-third of all Americans who suffer chronic lower back pain, as estimated by a World Health Organization 2003 report, you may benefit from a study that will be conducted by the Wilton Family Y and Stamford Hospital. This studywill compare two different approaches designed to decrease the negative effects of back pain on sufferers' lives.
You are eligible to participate in this free study if you:
- Are over the age of 18 years
- Have had 3 months+ of low back pain
- Can speak English
- Are wiling to commit 15-30 minutes (nearly) every day for home practice of self-care practice
- You are not eligible if you:
- Have sciatica
- Had had back surgery
- Have back pain caused by spondylolisthesis, fractured vertebra, spinal stenosis, or severe disc disease
- Have back pain potentially due toan underlying medical condition such as metastatic cancer
- Are pregnant
- Have a psychiatric or neurological illness such as major depression or dementia
- Have any impending legal circumstances
