Jane Green to Emcee Connecticut Press Club Ceremony May 25th

The Connecticut Press Club announced today that author (and former journalist) Jane Green will be the emcee at their awards night on Wednesday, May 25. Green is the author of 18 novels, including 16 New York Times bestsellers, with her latest release, Falling, out in July, and a cookbook, Good Taste, out in October. The author is also published in more than 25 languages and has over 10 million books in print worldwide.

The Connecticut Press Club will salute winners of their 2016 Communications Contest with a cocktail party and awards ceremony at The Boathouse at Saugatuck, 521 Riverside Avenue, Westport, at 6:00 pm. More than 50 awards will be conferred to about 30 entrants. The contest is held annually and spans a variety of categories, e.g., specialty articles, speeches, columns, personal opinion, personality profiles, prose/photo essays, poetry, nonfiction books, anthology excerpts, and more. Award recipients, current and prospective members, and the community at large are all invited to attend the Wednesday night event.

The cost of the evening is $40 per person, which covers hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer. To RSVP, e-mail ctpressclub@gmail.com and mail a check (made out to “Connecticut Press Club”) to P.O. Box 45, Cos Cob, CT 06807 by May 20. Walk-ins are welcome and payment will also be taken at the door.

Additionally, club members will be able to tout their businesses, books, etc., via promotional goody bags to be given out at the evening’s end. Those who wish to participate should contact Aline Weiller at wordsmithllc@optonline.net.

The Connecticut Press Club is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) and includes both male and female members. Though inactive in recent years, the club has been relaunched under the leadership of Michele Turk, a Greenwich-based writer/editor and owner of A Bloc of Writers, Inc. The club’s base was once comprised solely of print and broadcast journalists, but now welcomes all types of communicators: writers, editors, bloggers, authors, educators, public relations professionals, media photographers, students and more. Plans for the coming year include lectures by sought after speakers, professional development workshops, networking and social outings.

“One of my goals is to reinvigorate the club by recruiting new members with diverse communications backgrounds. I’m thrilled to rebuild this vibrant community of media professionals,” said Turk. “Having Jane Green emcee our awards night is an added plus.”
