RVNA Present: A Gluten-Free Diet: Your Ticket to Health?

Free presentation "A Gluten-Free Diet Your Ticket to Health?" on Wednesday, January 17th from 7:00 to 8:30pm at the RVNA Center for Exceptional Care

Not long ago, “whole-grain” and “whole-wheat” were the all-important labels in the food industry. From whole-grain waffles to whole-wheat pasta, consumers couldn’t get enough of it. Now, “gluten-free” is sweeping the nation and overshadowing its predecessor as the latest health trend. But is it right for everyone?

Around 1 in 133 people in the U.S., have celiac disease, which is a serious form of gluten intolerance. For many, this is an important medical issue rather than a diet-lifestyle. But as more people endorse the ‘gluten-free’ choice and consumer food companies capitalize on going “gluten-free”, the line between a necessary diet and a healthier lifestyle becomes a little blurry.

Join RVNA Registered Dietitian & Nutrition Educator, Meg Whitbeck as she offers a fun and engaging look at gluten-free diets and the potential health benefits they may offer.  Understand why a person would need or want to be on a gluten-free diet. Distinguish the facts from the myths and get answers to your questions. Samples and snacks will be provided.

This presentation, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, January 17th from 7:00 to 8:30pm at the RVNA Center for Exceptional Care, located at 27 Governor Street in Ridgefield. Attendees should RSVP to 203-438-5555.
