Boxing Day: The Superbowl for those seeking bargains

Didn't get what you wanted from Santa? Today, Boxing Day, is yet another reason to support your local merchants.

Originally known as the Feast of St. Stephen (after the first Christian martyr), Boxing Day had it's roots in England where it served as a holiday for members of the merchant class to give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing and money to those less fortunate. Many throughout the world keep the origin of Boxing Day alive by donating time and money to fill food banks and donate to the poor. It remains a holiday in the UK, Canada and other Commonwealth nations.

You don't have to venture too far to enjoy bargains - head to your downtown merchants and SHOP LOCAL.
