Snow totals increase for our area as storm makes a significant shift westward, according to NOAA. They have upgraded forecast to Blizzard Warnings for NY/NJ/Metro area. There is a Winter Storm Warning for Eastern LI and Southeast Connecticut due to uncertainties in duration of heavy snow before changeover to sleet/rain.

  • Heavy Snow expected tonight into Tuesday morning with damaging wind gusts likely for E LI and SE CT.
  • Blizzard Conditions Expected for NY/NJ Metro and most points to the north and west.

Heavy Snow

• 1-2’ NY/NJ Metro and points N&W

• 8-14” Coast…lowest E LI/SE CT

• Tue AM Snowfall rates of 2- 4”/hr

• Tue AM Whiteout conditions likely.

Wind

• 35 to 50 mph…highest along coast

• Gusts to 60 mph across E LI/SE CT

• Potential for power outages Tuesday morning into afternoon.
