Solar Power in Wilton Schools Heads to Public Hearing on April 17

Solar Power Gets Public Hearing on April 17

Wilton Board of Selectman will hold a Public Hearing on April 17 beginning at 7:30 pm in Town Hall Meeting Room B to discuss the possiblity of installing solar power panels on the roofs of Miller Driscoll and Middlebrook and possibly the High School. The community is invited to attend.

According to the Town Solar Proposal, solar arrays would be owned, installed and maintained by a solar vendor who would sell solar generated electricity to the Town for twenty years at fixed rates which are lower than current and projected electric rates.

Wilton Energy Commission (WEC) estimates electricity savings of $1.2 million to $2.3 million over the 20 years.

The Board of Selectmen expect to render a decision on the panels by May 1. If approved, the panels on Miller Discoll and Middlebrook schools would be installed this summer.
