In celebration of their 10th anniversary, Chowdafest is conducting a fun online promotion called “Predict the Winner” sponsored by Mohegan Sun. People can go online to www.chowdafest.org once a day from July 1 through Aug 31 and vote for their favorite restaurant in each of our five categories of competition, with each vote earning a chance to win a “Stay & Slurp” hotel and ticket package.
“We teamed up with another great Connecticut destination because this promotion predicts who will win Chowdafest this fall and we know a lot about winning” said Gary Baker, Director of Convention Sales & Services. “We're thrilled to team up with Chowdafest and proud to have one of our award-winning restaurants, Michael Jordan's Steak House, in the competition as well”.
Chowdafest has helped make Connecticut the Chowder Capital of New England as 40 award-winning restaurants, representing every New England state, comes to Connecticut on the first Sunday of October to compete for the title of “Best in New England”. “We go around all over New England for months sampling chowders, soups and bisque trying to find the best to invite to our competition” said Jim Keenan, Event Director. “We feature incredible chefs who all believe they are the best at what they do and that everyone else can't boil water” he said laughing. “Our competition is part ego and if you're a chef without one, you're not a great chef. One of the many things I love about conducting this event is largely unseen to most but the trash talk starts early among these culinary friends about who is going to beat whom. So we came up with this promotion to see who might be the pre-event favorite going into Chowdafest. If sport pundits can predict who the favorite team is before a football season even starts, for example, we can have fun predicting the favorites to win Chowdafest”.
