Hear a Dramatic Reading of Mark's Gospel at St. Stephen's

The public is invited to come to St. Stephen’s in Ridgefield to hear a reading of Mark’s Gospel in its entirety by parishioner and professional actor J. Tucker Smith (pictured) on Palm Sunday, March 29, at 5 p.m. A reading of Mark’s Gospel, the first Gospel written and shortest of the four (Matthew, Mark, Luck and John), takes about 75 minutes.  The event is free. The church is located at 351 Main St..

“To hear the Gospel of Mark in one sitting makes it come to light in a new way,” said the Rev. Whitney Altopp, rector of St. Stephen’s. “So often we think of the Bible as a daunting literary piece, and we can forget that it is comprised of many small pieces.”

J. Tucker Smith, a graduate of Northwestern, has worked professionally in New York City for 22 years in film, television and theater, as well as voice-over narration and commercial work. His television credits include “White Collar” (USA), “The Following” (Fox), “Damages” (Fox) and the upcoming “Daredevil” on Netflix. He will be seen in the independent film “ADDicted,” which deals with the problem of adderal addiction on college campuses.

Mr. Smith is a lifelong Episcopalian. He and his wife, actor Allison Daugherty, have two children, Avery and Jackson.
