New Canaan Chief of Police Presents Smart911 to Kiwanis

“No one plans to call 911, but now you can plan ahead,” noted Police Chief Leon Krolikowski during his presentation to New Canaan Kiwanis, at their recent New Member luncheon at the Roger Sherman Inn.

“What many citizens may not realize is that we usually have limited information when responding to an emergency call. Smart911 is a secure national safety database which allows residents to create a free safety profile for their household that includes information they would want 911 to have in an emergency,” said Police Chief Krolikowski.

“If a resident is unable to speak, or, often times, too emotional to remember even the simplest of critical details, a Smart911 Safety Profile provides that information. For example, a photo of a child can give police a timely advantage in the event of a missing child.”

“New Canaan is one of only a small handful of communities in Connecticut offer Smart911 for citizens’ public safety, and we hope every New Canaan resident takes the few minutes to create a life-saving profile for their family,” he continued.
