Exhibition of Paintings by Charles Schick and Drawings by Regina Bartkoff, to Open at New Canaan Library

The expressive and often powerful work of Charles Schick and Regina Bartkoff grows out of a Lower East Side story, celebrating the two artists who found each other and together committed to a life of unceasing creativity and authenticity. Schick's  paintings and Bartkoff's bold pastel drawings will be on exhibition at New Canaan Library’s H. Pelham Curtis Gallery from August 13 - October 4, 2015, with an opening reception on Thursday, August 13 from 6 - 8 PM; all are welcome.

A highlight of the opening reception will be a unique revival of  Tennessee Williams’ “Two Character Play,” offering selected scenes performed by the artists, beginning at 6:30 PM.

Schick and Bartkoff's provocative and emotional art illuminates aspects of life we might hide or skip over, tapping into emotions that feel true, if not uncomfortable. Their individual works both complement and contrast each other; Schick's dreamy paintings reflect beauty and longing behind the darkness, while Bartkoff's drawings strike strong emotions with colorful and stark imagery. "I Been Looking for You" runs the gamut of human experience, the highs and the lows, the messy emotions that we run from, but that find us after all.
