The Maritime Aquarium Hosts Auditions on Sept 19 for October Screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show

Calling all Dr. Frank-N-Furter wannabees: The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is looking for avid fans of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” to act out the film during a special screening in October.

On Sat., Sept. 19 at 5 p.m., the Aquarium is hosting auditions for “ ‘The Rocky Horror’ Experience” – set for Sat., Oct. 24, when a live cast acts out “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on a stage in the Aquarium’s movie theater while the campy cult-classic film plays on the giant six-story screen above.

To audition, please come to the Aquarium’s IMAX® Theater in costume as a character from “The Rocky Horror Show” and be prepared to dance to “Time Warp” and to perform an impromptu “virgin sacrifice.” Auditioning is open to all, and there is no charge.

The Aquarium is seeking to cast four to five main characters – particularly Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Rocky, Magenta, Riff Raff and Columbia, but also perhaps a Brad and Janet.

During the show on Oct. 24 at 9 p.m., the live cast will act out the film as it plays before an audience of up to 310 people. Performers will be expected to dance and interact along with the movie, but will not be mic’d or expected to sing.

Cast members will be paid $50.

(Please note that, while “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will be shown on Oct. 24 in the Aquarium’s IMAX Theater, the movie is not available in the trademarked IMAX format.)

There’s no need to sign up in advance for the Sept. 19 auditions. For questions or more details, call (203) 852-0700, ext. 2219.
