Executive Director Carriage Barn Arts to Step Down

On August 10th, Valerie Garlick, Executive Director Carriage Barn Arts will be stepping down. Garlick says: "I have had a wonderful year at the New Canaan Society for the Arts. Working with our members, our Board, and our volunteers to create exciting exhibitions and inspiring programs at the Carriage Barn and throughout New Canaan. It has been a particular pleasure to work closely with our exhibiting artists, to get to know their work, and to share in the excitement of presenting their work to all of our members and to the greater community. I leave my position at the Carriage Barn with no small amount of sadness. The Carriage Barn is an exciting and vibrant resource for New Canaan. I will miss the opportunity to continue to explore the many new and imaginative ways in which this unique structure can and will, in the coming years, add to the richness of the cultural scene in New Canaan."

In late August, Garlick will take the position of Executive Director of the Institute Library, in New Haven, an organization which, like the New Canaan Society for the Arts, has a rich history, an enthusiastic member base, and occupies a unique historic building. Garlic comments: "I look forward to finding ways of facilitating art and literary programs that can bring these two vibrant organizations together."

The NCSA Board of Directors is currently conducting a search and interviewing candidates to fill the position of Executive Director.
