It may be hard to believe, but we each carry about 2 pounds of living bacteria inside us. That might sound disturbing, but microbes are actually very helpful to us in many aspects of health and wellness. In this relatively new field of study there are still many unanswered questions, but one thing’s for sure - we can trust our gut to these “microbe managers." Join Yale Science Diplomats for a look at the exciting new research on how gut bacteria have changed with us over the eons, help us digest our food and even contribute to our mental health.

Yale Science Diplomats is a graduate student group dedicated to science policy and science communication. The diplomats bring science to the public in exciting and accessible ways through a variety of outreach initiatives such as Science in the NewsScience Shorts, and Science @ Bar, with the goal of fostering a scientifically informed electorate. In doing so, they also train scientists on effective communication skills and encourage active participation and involvement in science policy and the political process
