Scarecrow Fest is proudly produced by the Wilton Chamber in cooperation with the Town of Wilton and Trackside Teen Center. It is open to Wilton-based biz, organizations, clubs and families. Click here to enter.

 

Entries will be limited to the first 60 submissions. Mail or e-mail this form along with the scarecrow kit fee by September 30th, 2016 to: Wilton Chamber of Commerce, Attn: Scarecrow Fest, 86 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or via e-mail at info@wiltonchamber.com.

SCARECROW KITS

Each scarecrow kit costs $30 and includes a wooden post frame and a bale of hay. Kits will be available at Trackside Teen Center (15 Station Road) on October 3rd through 7th from 10AM – 4PM only. All entrants must pick up their kit during these days and within the allocated time. ENTRANTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PICK UP A KIT OUTSIDE OF THE DESIGNATED TIME.

INSTALLATION

Entrants are responsible for delivering their completed scarecrow to Trackside Teen Center from October 12th through October 13th from 10AM – 4PM.

All entrants will need to drop off their completed scarecrow during these two days and within the allocated time. ABSOLUTELY NO SCARECROWS WILL BE ACCEPTED OUTSIDE THE DESIGNATED TIME FRAME.

Scarecrows will be installed by DPW and Parks and Recreation on Friday, October 14th. Scarecrows will be hung on Wilton Center lampposts through October 31st. If you decide to keep the scarecrow for the following year, you must tell us when you pick up your supplies and we will check you off as having the kit ready for the next year.

If you do not let us know that you want to save it for the following year, we will remove it and you will not be able to retrieve any part of it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. Set up: Scarecrows must be completed and turned in to Trackside Teen Center between 10AM – 4PM, from October 12th through 13th. All scarecrows must be delivered to Trackside by 4PM on October 13th – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. NOTE: All entries must utilize the frame and hay from the kit.

2. Scarecrows must be constructed to withstand the weather and be in good taste. No entry will be accepted that reflects controversial or insensitive issues. We reserve the right to remove any entry that does not meet these standards. No handouts, promotional materials of free giveaways can be associated with any scarecrow entry.

3. Human scarecrows or mechanical scarecrows facilitated by a human are not permitted. No items such as tiki torches, gas-powered generators or any other flammable objects are allowed.

4. Please be advised that no security will be available to protect the scarecrows. The Wilton Chamber of Commerce, Town of Wilton or Trackside Teen Center are not responsible for any loss or damage to entries.

6. One scarecrow entry per person, family, business, organization or club will be accepted. An 8 ½ x 11 laminated sign should be included on each entry containing both the participant’s name and the name of the scarecrow.

7. Take Down: Scarecrows will be taken down by DPW and Parks and Recreation on Monday , October 31st.
