Verdi's Requiem March 4 at Norwalk Concert Hall

David Rosenmeyer conducts the Fairfield County Chorale and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem on Saturday, March 4th at 7:30pm in Norwalk Concert Hall in Norwalk.

Experience the power of Verdi's operatic masterpiece in an exciting collaboration between the Fairfield County Chorale's 100+ voices, four talented soloists and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (William Boughton, music director). The Messa da Requiem is one of the most popular and frequently performed large chorale works.

“We are thrilled to be performing with such a magnificent symphony. The Requiem explores the full range of human emotions through its poetic language and music. Moments of great intimacy, tenderness, love and loss are paired with vigorous rhythms, sublime melodies and striking musical gestures. Our special collaboration with the New Haven Symphony enhances and deepens the complex intensity of this important work,” said FCC music director David Rosenmeyer.

Soloists to be featured are soprano Amanda Hall, mezzo-soprano Kirstin Chavez, tenor Alex Richardson, and baritone Nathan Stark.

The Fairfield County Chorale is now in its 54th season of presenting great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. Its mission is to perform a broad range of choral music for the benefit of the community, and to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature. The Chorale is comprised of over 100 voices, and every concert features a professional orchestra and soloists. The FCC has presented a number of local, U.S., and world premieres, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra, currently in its 123rd year, gave its first concert in 1895 and is the fourth oldest orchestra in the United States. Today, the Orchestra is made up of over 70 professionals, most of whom live and work in the Greater New Haven area. Maestro William Boughton currently directs the NHSO.
