Funds Needed to Complete Wilton Loop of NRVT to Skunk Lane

The Norwalk River Valley Trail section to Skunk Lane can be constructed this fall if the community rises to the challenge to raise the last $50,000 of this $200,000 project.

Coincident with the recent official opening of the boardwalk to Twin Oak Lane, four leadership donors put up the first $100,000 and challenged the trail users and supporters to contribute the other half.

It didn’t take long for Jennifer and Claude Amadeo to step up to the challenge of offer a matching donation. Within just a few days of hearing about the challenge, they proposed to match every dollar donated towards the second $100,000, up to $50,000. In a communication to the NRVT, Jennifer Amadeo said, “We knew we wanted to support this next section and wanted to do it in such a way as to motivate others, too.” This is the second leadership donation by the Amadeos, with the first being made to construct the trail north of Sharp Hill Road.

Pat Sesto, NRVT Chairman, was elated by this offer. “The pledge by the Amadeos is fantastic. Not only does this have the potential to be a sizable donation itself, I think people at all donation levels feel better knowing their donation will be doubled.” said Sesto.

At the boardwalk opening, Josh Ryan of Timber and Stone, noted he is holding a spot open in his fall schedule for a bit to see if the fundraising challenge can be met. Ryan added the NRVT in Wilton is a favorite job for his crew and himself and they would look forward to coming back later this year.

The NRVT has quickly become a beloved town amenity and more can be built with the generosity of the trail’s users and supporters. If interested in participating in the matching donation challenge, an online payment option can be found on the NRVT website www.NRVT-Trail.com or checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 174, Georgetown, CT 06829. Contact Executive Director Charlie Taney at 203-536-5618 with any questions.
