Wilton's Music on the Hill Invites You to Join in for Music in the New Year!

Make a change for the better in 2018 with a resolution that's not hard to keep: become a member of the Music on the Hill community in the New Year. No need to start on January 1st, and no need for a daily regimen that tests willpower. Simply subscribe to the mailing list and receive notices of workshops, rehearsal schedules, and concert dates, each an open invitation to reap the rewards of engagement with music.

Music on the Hill, based in Wilton, welcomes new participants --including students --in all its programs: music workshops, the August Summer Sings series, and choral and handbell ensembles. Concert-goers, too, are invited to subscribe and are welcomed as invaluable members of the community.

About the Ensembles

Music on the Hill offers four performing ensembles: three choral groups (Chamber Chorus, Festival Chorus, Summer Chorus) and the county's only community handbell choir (Jubilate Ringers). The groups perform, in rotation, seven concerts each year in Wilton and neighboring towns.

Each ensemble meets for one music project at a time, one rehearsal/concert cycle lasting four to six weeks, a time-limited commitment. As a result, ensembles regularly include both new and returning members, with new participants always welcome. Music on the Hill attracts people with varied backgrounds, from music professionals and active members of other choirs to people who have been away from singing/ringing for a while and are looking for a music home.

No auditions are required for the Summer Chorus, which rehearses and performs a major choral-orchestral work each July, or the Festival Chorus, which performs a spring and fall concert in addition to the popular "Sounds of the Season" Christmas concert with the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir.

Auditions are held for the Chamber Chorus, a professional 16-voice ensemble, and for the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir. Inquire by e-mail to auditions@musiconthehillCT.org.

All ensembles are led by Music on the Hill's talented artistic directors, David H. Connell and Ellen Dickinson.

About Music on the Hill

Music on the Hill, beginning its seventh year, is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to high-quality music education and performance for all ages. It is funded by generous donors and, in part, by a grant from the CT Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Visit musiconthehillCT.org to learn more, and subscribe to stay informed of opportunities for music throughout the year. And consider a gift on Fairfield County Giving Day (Thursday, March 1) in support of music in the community.
