nancy O Yarns Introduced at New York Show

Nancy O’Connell brought her yarn, gift and fashion store, nancy O, to New York City this past weekend by way of a booth at the Vogue Knitting show (pictured is part of the booth). Her mission was to launch her new private-label brands, Petals and Soft, and get an initial response from consumers. The brands are now available at the store at 23 Catoonah St. in Ridgefield (although supplies are currently limited because sales went so well at the show).

“People loved the yarn!” said O'Connell. “There was a lot of curiosity around Petals and one of its ingredients, rose fiber, which gives the yarn its luster. What I think they liked best about Petals were the vibrant colors and the soft, luxurious feel. They purchased a lot of it for accessories, like gloves, scarves and hats.”

She also introduced her other brand, Soft, made from 100% extra-fine, artisanal Merino wool. The natural-dye colors are more muted than those of Petals. “We sold a lot of Soft for baby blankets,” she said. “The color grey, which is very popular for babies, was the winner; in fact, it sold out before the last day of the show. The color was dyed to perfection.” Both Petals and Soft are hand-crafted in the U.S. with natural fibers from Great Britain.

A dedicated Ridgefield booster, O'Connell also spoke at length with many people at the show about Ridgefield. “Many said they plan to visit nancy O and can’t wait to see the town,” she added. “Mission accomplished!”
