Wilton Chamber of Commerce reminds residents to keep it LOCAL on Small Business Saturday.

Shop Local, Shop Wilton on Small Business Saturday

• November 29, 2014 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Strategically positioned between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Now in its fifth year, Small Business Saturday has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before. The Wilton Chamber of Commerce invites the community to Shop Wilton on November 29th. Last year, over one hundred million people came together to Shop Small in communities like ours, and we expect this year will be just as successful.

Spend $10, Get $10 — Up to 3x
American Express is sweetening the deal by offering up to three $10 statement credits to anyone who uses their registered AmEx to make purchases of $10 or more at a qualifying small business on Small Business Saturday. Card holders can register their card at www.americanexpress.com/shopsmall. Business owners that accept American Express cards can register their business, and sign up for Shop Small promotions, too.

Shopping Wilton Stimulates Our Economy
In this economic climate, the best return on investment is in local business. It is estimated that for every dollar you spend, twice as much will be reinvested in the community by a local store. Significantly more money recirculates in Wilton when purchases are made at locally- owned businesses. More money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses purchase from other local businesses, service providers and farms. Purchasing locally helps grow other businesses as well as the Wilton tax base.

Shopping Wilton Creates More Jobs
Most new jobs are provided by local businesses. Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally. When businesses grow, jobs open up. New employees and their families then add their support and spend money in the community.

Shopping Wilton Results in Better Consumer Choices
Our one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of our distinctive character: The unique character of Wilton is what brought us here and will keep us here. Wilton shops tend to Wilton needs. They know you and create distinctive shopping experiences and stock different products to cater to our community.

Small businesses encourage competition in the marketplace. Competition and diversity leads to more choices. A marketplace of tens of thousands of small businesses is the best way to ensure innovation and low prices over the long-term. A multitude of small businesses, each selecting products based not on a national sales plan but on their own interests and the needs of their local customers, guarantees a much broader range of product choices.

Shopping Wilton Improves Customer Service
Evidence from numerous surveys shows people receive better customer care and service locally. Wilton businesses survive by reputation and often hire people with more specific product expertise for better customer service. When you run into a problem, you’re also more likely to receive a satisfactory resolution from the friendly face of a local business owner.

Shopping Wilton Supports Our Community
Wilton businesses invest in our community, donate to our non-profits, and help grow the economic base of our town. The dollars spent right here in Wilton create a domino effect that eventually finds its way back to you. Wilton businesses are owned by people who live in Wilton, who are less likely to leave, and who are more invested in our future. Communities like Wilton can survive difficult downturns in the economy with a thriving local business center. Shopping Wilton keeps your neighborhoods safe, vibrant, and stabilizes home values — and it takes you to start the trend.
