Young Artists and Writers Exhibition One Week ONLY

Young Artists 2015

Sunday, March 1-8
One Week Only!

Now in its 32nd year, Young Artists 2015 showcases the extraordinary talents of over 400 budding artists from 43 schools in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, and Fairfield counties. Involved in every aspect of mounting this exhibition, students design the invitation, curate, and install the artwork. This annual program is a tribute to our young artists, their families and teachers, and the KMA's continuing commitment to education. The exhibition is made possible by Rebecca and Arthur Samberg.

Thinking Through Art: Young Artists & Writers
March 1-8

This exhibition presents art and writing created by students and inspired by the exhibition Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor. The multi-session, museum-based curriculum culminates in an exhibition in the Learning Center and Project Gallery.  More than 500 fourth and fifth graders from Increase Miller, Katonah, and Meadow Pond elementary schools created emojis which represent personal symbols as language. Third grade students at The King School designed clothing and accessories that expressed their own personal values. All the students also wrote poems which they will present during literary readings at the KMA this week. Thinking Through Art is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, Gail and Caesar Bryan, and Maralyn Carr and Robert Stahmer.
