Holiday Open House at Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

On Sunday, December 13, 2015, 12-4 p.m. at 295 West Ave., Norwalk, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will partner with New Canaan Dance Academy and North Pole’s Santa Claus to create a festive event and several hours of entertainment for people of all ages.

Along with the program’s talented performers, a Doll & Teddy Bear Victorian Tea and seasonal refreshments will capture the joyfulness of the holiday season, while giving families an opportunity to take part in the history, tinsel, and magic of one of the most magnificent mansions in the United States.

Visitors will have an opportunity to view the exhibit, Holiday Grandeur: The Mansion’s Toys and Trains Story and walk throughout the first floor of the Museum where toys, trains and dolls will be on display with trees and holiday decorations that are a Mansion’s hallmark during the month of December.  

Santa Claus with Reindeer (1-2:15 p.m.)

Santa Claus and his reindeer will make their way into the Music Room and spend a full hour greeting children and hearing their Christmas wishes before they head back to the North Pole.

New Canaan Dance Academy (2:15- 3 p.m.)

Attendees will be inspired and energized by watching students from one of the most dynamic and talented schools in Fairfield County, ages range from 5-18, as they perform a mix of Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical.

NCDA was founded in 2001 by Elaine Young. In addition to dance competitions and conventions, NCDA performs in local Charitable Outreach events, and has held Dance-a-Thon Benefits to raise funds for victims of 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti Earthquake, and Hurricane Sandy.

The Doll and Teddy Bear Victorian Tea(3:15-4 p.m.)Children are encouraged to be creative, practice good etiquette, and join in the fun with their favorite doll or stuffed bear. This programwill end the festivities with a bingo with lots of prizes. General Admission to the Holiday Open House is $5, Tea tickets are $10.

Tour hours: Wed.-Sun., noon, 1, 2, and 3 p.m. General Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and children and young adults, ages 8-18, $6.
