CAM’S First House Concert of the 2016-17 Season on Sunday, September 11th at 3PM at Silvermine School of Music Featuring 2015 Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition Prize Winner, Wenjie Lu

Wenjie Lu's program will include Chopin's Preludes Op. 28 and Rachmaninoff's Sonata No. 2 Op. 36 (1931 version).

Tickets are $35 (non-members), $28 (members) and $10 for students, which includes an informal reception following the performance.  It’s a wonderful way for audience members to meet the artist and engage in lively conversation with like-minded-folks!

Born in Qingdao, China, Wenjie Lu began playing the piano at the age of five and made his concerto debut in 2005. Wenjie was the state winner of MTNA Young Artist Piano Competition in 2011 and won first prize at the Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition in 2015.  His artistry has carried him to venues in Europe, Asia and America, including a solo recital debut in Carnegie Weill Hall. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Capital University with Dr. Tianshu Wang and Master’s degree from Eastman School of Music.  He is currently a candidate for a Doctoral of Musical Art degree in piano performance and literature at Eastman, studying with Professor Barry Snyder.

Throughout history, giving “house concerts” has been a way to introduce an audience to new chamber music compositions and for performers to play to appreciative audiences in an intimate space. Today’s house concerts are gaining in popularity and current-generation performing artists have found this venue a creative approach to reaching new audiences. CAM-presented House Concerts are attended by individuals interested in experiencing fine music in small, intimate settings. Winners of the Heida Hermanns International Music Competition are featured, as well as distinguished chamber ensembles and soloists.
