Wilton Library Adds Events to November Calendar

Check out the new events just added to the November lineup at Wilton Library

Friday, November 4 Skill Building in the Preschool Years: Waiting and Shifting Gears with Susan Bauerfeld, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Keeping up with a fast paced, heavily scheduled life demands an endless stream of transitions from one activity to the next – sleeping to waking, eating to playing, playing to bathing, home to school/work, etc. Transitions are complicated and require skill to negotiate effectively. Meltdowns – of both parents and children – during times of transition are both common and particularly disruptive and challenging to manage. In this talk you will learn about the different skills required during transitions – for both parents and kids – and how to learn and teach these skills in ways that both reduce the impact of stress and promote resilience, competence and healthy self-esteem. A program for parents of preschoolers (and other interested people). Co-sponsored by The Children’s Day School of Wilton, The Community Nursery School of Wilton, and Wilton Library. No charge. Registration recommended. Register on the library’s registration link or call 203-762-6334. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton; www.wiltonlibrary.org; (203) 762-3950.

Saturday, November 12 Meditation Box Craft, 2 – 3 p.m. In coordination with Silver Hill Hospital, and to kick off the circulation of our Mental Health 'To-Go Kits,' Wilton Library is inviting participants to decorate plain white boxes, using the collage method, and learn about art therapy in the process. You will walk away with a completed box that might illustrate your inside feelings vs. what you show on the outside, as symbolized by the images on the outside and inside of the box. The box will also contain a stress ball, silly putty and a flash drive with pre-loaded meditations to start you on your way to filling your boxes as a stress relief tool. Materials supplied by Silver Hill Hospital. Appropriate for teenagers to seniors.  There is no charge for this event, but registration is required in advance. Use the registration link on the library’s website or call 203-762-6334.  Co-sponsored by Silver Hill Hospital and Wilton Library.
